Why Scottish Isles as a topic and why I can do a project like this?
26 days to go!
šøHereās a look at the interior of a Viking longhouse in Scotland, set during the final years of Norse rule in the isles.
āļøSomething fascinating from my research: many of the Scottish isles were once ruled by Norway as the Kingdom of the Isles, long before they were transferred to the Kingdom of Alba after the Battle of Largs.
Why Scottish islands? I love Scotland, I live here, and the first time I visited Arran I was hooked. The isles shaped so much of Scotlandās story, yet a lot of that history is overlooked or barely known. I want to research it properly and build a serious game that treats it with accuracy and respect. Projects like this need support, which is why Iām applying for grants and running a Kickstarter.
As for why I feel able to take this on: I have a degree in computer games development, with my honours work focused on serious games and their educational potential. Iāve also studied medieval history and mathematics, earning a BA. The mix of training and long-time fascination with history gives me the confidence to build something meaningful-hopefully with feedback from an educational institution if that becomes possible.
š«¶If youād like to support the development of a game that explores the history, customs, and cultures of the Scottish isles, you can pledge on my page here: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/luduspaxstudios/tiny-terra-spaces-a-cosy-scottish-island-builderĀ
