Rise of the Village Hero features and mechanics

My game has core RPG mechanics that immerse players in its world. Key elements include:

Loot Acquisition: Attack monsters and explore levels to discover valuable loot, enhancing your inventory.

Combat Dynamics: Wield power to vanquish foes and dominate your adversaries.

Combat abilities have been introduced such as Whirlwind Pirouette.

Healing abilities have also been introduced such as Healing chant.

Narrative Depth: Dialogues and quests are pivotal, driving compelling storytelling throughout my game.

Economic Interactions: Visit stores to trade, sell your acquired items or upgrade equipment by buying new equipment, armour, and potions.

Character Progression: As you level up, allocate attribute points to bolster health, armour, and gain special discounts at shops through charisma.

Strategic Exploration: Utilise a dynamic camera to survey the terrain, making strategic decisions like positions of enemy groups and accessing seemingly unreachable areas with ease, like clicking on the other side of a wall.

Interior Exploration has been added for some of chapter 1, and more will be added in the future.

Permanent Death: The game features permanent death. At the beginning, you should create a save game with your desired name, and you should save whenever you have a chance by pressing F2 for a quick save. The game does have a learning curve as well as some initial difficulty, which symbolises the main protagonist Guy’s unpreparedness to deal with the current situation.

Rise of the Village Hero story

Players step into the shoes of Guy, a hunter returning home to the desolation of Warlington town. As he delves deeper, Guy uncovers a chilling plot: orcs are conspiring to resurrect a banished goddess imprisoned within a shattered crystal. This potent relic has been fragmented into four pieces, discreetly concealed within churches, sceptres, and even the King’s sword hilt decades ago. With monsters rallying under this dark cause, humanity’s fate hangs in the balance. It falls upon Guy, the hero, to thwart their ambitions and prevent the malevolent goddess’s resurgence, lest the Kingdom of Dobroja face its darkest hour.

Once its going to get completed and 1.0 will release there is my intention to also put it on Epic game store potentially.

Early access plan:

During the early access phase, development will continue, and the game is projected to be completed within 1 to 2 years. Currently, the game includes 1 chapter with 5 levels and an interlink area of 2 levels, connecting Chapter 1 to Chapter 2.

Chapter 2 is now complete, and the UI has been overhauled. The game also features a new interlink area between Chapter 2 and Chapter 3 called “Long Road to Wynter.” Development on Chapter 3 has begun, which is set in and around the town of Wynter.

Abilities have been added to enhance gameplay. Currently, the game features an attack ability—a Whirwind Pirouette attack—that can be leveled up to level 5 and is available from the start of the game. Additionally, a healing ability, Healing chant, has been introduced. The plan is to add -hopefully- a few more abilities by the end of Early Access 1.0 to further diversify combat.

As part of the ongoing plan to secure feedback and reach out to the wider target audience for my game I have also re-released the demo on Steam (I update it regularly with each update of the main game):

About my studio

Founded in November 2023, Ludus Pax Studios is a solo venture helmed by myself, Silviu Soare, a dedicated game developer and the director/founder. The mission of my studio is to craft immersive indie games driven by passion and offered at an affordable rate. I am a highly motivated game development graduate, having received accolades for exemplary performance during my third year at university, and I completed my studies with a First-Class Honours BSc in Computer Games Development. The start of my studio journey is marked by the release of Rise of the Village Hero in January 2024.
