Plans for My Game, Tiny Terra Spaces – Devlog 8

Published by Silviu on

Hello everyone!

I’m excited to share more about my game, Tiny Terra Spaces, right here in this detailed devlog. With social media’s character limits, it’s tough to explain everything in one go—so here’s the full vision behind the game.

🌱 Sandbox Mode

Start fresh on a new island—either a tiny two-tile space or from various pre-defined shapes. Each option includes a marketplace and a starting dock, giving players a cozy beginning to build from.

🌊 Hop Mode

In Hop Mode, you build a thriving island and, once you’ve met certain requirements, sail off to a new one. It’s all about progression and expanding your cosy world, one island at a time.

📜 Serious Game – Historical Hop Mode (Funding Dependent)

This is a more ambitious mode focused on Scottish island history. Learn about medieval times, local clans, and the vital roles islands played in Scottish independence. This mode will only be possible with sufficient funding, as it requires research and collaboration. It will also focus on Scottish Island communities and their own independent customs, histories, clans and troubles. All done in a happy cosy vibe.

💰 Funding Plans

I’m preparing to launch a Kickstarter campaign to help fund the game’s development. With enough support, I hope to hire help, cover essential costs, and truly realise the full potential of Tiny Terra Spaces. Follow it here if you wish to be notified when it launches. I am also thinking of applying for a variety of grants, and seek out support and help from local councils which oversee islands in Scotland. See if they would be willing to collaborate with me. I have also reached out to Universities and will attempt to reach out to more in the near future.

🧠 Educational Goals (Also Funding Dependent)

If funding allows, I’d love for Tiny Terra Spaces to celebrate the real-life stories of Scottish islands—not through hardship, but by showcasing their communities, traditions, and resilience. Think of it as a cozy journey through history, not a survival game.

🌍 Why the Name Tiny Terra Spaces?

While this project begins with Scotland, I want the concept to remain flexible and expandable. Future themes could include Nordic, Japanese, or other cultures and regions. That’s why the name isn’t limited to “Scottish Islands”.

🧩 Intended Features

  • Manage a light, cozy economy
  • Decorate and customise your islands
  • Interact with buildings and inhabitants
  • Zoom in to watch your little world grow
  • Explore different island shapes and weather conditions
  • Unlock new islands through the Hop Mode system
  • Serious game mode hop island (dependent on funding)
  • Hop island mode.

📅 Release Timeline

As a solo developer, the release depends heavily on whether I secure funding. With enough support, development could speed up significantly. Otherwise, I aim for some point next year, depending on progress.

🚫 Early Access?

No early access this time.
After releasing Rise of the Village Hero in early access and seeing little traction (0–10 players), I’ve decided to only release complete games moving forward. I’m fully committed to delivering a polished experience at launch.

🔨 Current Development Stage

I’m currently in early alpha, version 0.1e. Despite the summer holidays, I’ve managed to keep updates coming regularly—small but steady improvements.

From this point forward, all updates (including 0.1e) are behind a small paywall on Itch.io. This helps support development directly.

🎮 Where to Play

You can play Tiny Terra Spaces on Itch.io or directly on my website via WebGL. If you enjoy it, consider purchasing—it really helps support the game!

Future releases are also planned for Steam, Itch.io, and Humble Bundle.
